Eternal God, as we celebrate 250 years of our nation’s independence, we give thanks for your faithfulness and mercy through the generations.
Strengthen all communities of faith and inspire us to work together and uphold the dignity of every human being.
Save us from violence, discord, and confusion, from pride and arrogance, and from every evil course of action.
End conflicts, heal divisions, and lead world leaders to seek justice and reconciliation for all their people.
Grant wisdom and integrity to all who serve in public office. Guide our leaders to seek what is good and right and to make decisions that serve every citizen.
Bless all the children and youth of this land. Protect them from harm, help them grow in knowledge and wisdom, and surround them with people who will nurture and guide them.
Watch over our veterans and all who serve in our armed forces. Keep them safe, give them courage, and bring healing to all who are wounded in body, mind, or spirit.
Stand with all who strengthen and protect our community—we especially pray for our police, firefighters, first responders, and all who risk their lives for the sake of others.
Unite our country in mutual respect and in shared responsibility to promote the common good. Let us find joy as we work together.
Look with compassion on all who are in need, especially the poor, the hungry, the homeless, the sick, the lonely, and the forgotten. Stir in us a spirit of true compassion and generosity.
Teach us to be faithful stewards of your good creation. Guide us to use the earth’s resources wisely and to protect them for the sake of future generations.
Keep your people strong in faith. In times of abundance or in times of want, may we always trust and believe in you.
Into your hands, almighty God, we commend our nation, our neighbors, and ourselves. Grant us courage, faith, wisdom, and hope now and for years to come.
